Almost Friday...

My volleyball girls lost all 3 games on Tuesday - but they did so in good spirit. The first game we lost by 2 and the other 2 we lost by about 6 or so. No so bad considering it was the first game, I only had 7 girls there total and only 2 that played last year. Plus, when we started playing I had to point out where the out of bound lines where and serving lines were, etc - since they had never played on an actual court before. But, I think they played very well together. They were not mad when they lost and they seemed to have a good time. Which, really, is all I am looking for. Since we are not an actual "school" league, I just care that the girls are having a good time!

Otherwise, the week is going pretty well. There have been some tense moments at work - but, nothing overly serious. And not even tense moments necessarily with me, but relayed to me by other staff members. All of which are legit and I see where they are coming from.

What else? Hannah and Pete's wedding is on Saturday. I cant believe she is getting married already in 2 days. How crazy is that - though it will be a good chance to see some friends from CUW that I havent seen in a while.

Game 1

Tonight my girls have their first volleyball game. It should prove to be interesting. Besides being their first game, it will be the first time they play on an actual court instead of grass- since we dont have a gym for them to practice in. I think my girls are good, but are disadvantaged because of this. Hopefully they adjust well to the different ground. Im sure they will be great. But, my class just walked in so I have to go and round them up.

Im behind already..

It's only day 2 of the third week and I am already behind in my grading. I guess that means my night tonight will consist of grading papers; trying to get myself caught up. I am hoping at least to get 1 class caught up and another started. Then, I wont feel so bad.

In other news, I went to the brewer game on Sunday with Dave, my sister (Sheila), and her husband (Sean). It was a really good time - and the fact that the Brewers won, makes it even better. Other than that, my weekend (Saturday) didnt exist of anything overly excting.

What else? Im not really sure. There isnt a whole lot to write about. My week so far is going really well - which means tomorrow (now that I said that) will probably be horrific. But, in my opinion, since tomorrow is the only full day we have left this week - how bad can the rest of the week be?

I survived week 1

I am back for an actual post - I should be grading, but right now I really dont want too. Especially I havent graded my 1st hour at all yet, so I have quite a bit to do for that one. The only good part, they had a few assignments where if they did it they get credit and if they didnt - well then they dont. So, they do not need to be actually graded.

Tonight I am stuck in Milwaukee until who knows when. I have a volleyball coaches meeting at 6:00 and think its dumb to drive home and then back to Milw. Especially since traffic coming back into Milwaukee will be horrible at 5. And, its not really worth driving home for only an hour. Im sure I can waste 2 hours somehow. I will have dinner - maybe at the mall - that way I can people watch for a while and that will take time.

About my classes... This quarter I have Algebra 1 and Math Review (basically everything they should have learned up to the point they entered high school). Unfortunately, a lot of the stuff they have no clue about. My Algebra 1 class (I only have it 1st hour) is a beast of a class. Their are a few bad attitudes, a few really good attitudes and some in the middle. But, they bad ones - why must they be so vocal?? They drive me crazy.. ARGH!!! As for my 2 math review classes - so far I really like them. They work together really well - we can go group activities and it works out. They volunteer to read, write and answer. What more could I ask for. Though - its only week 2 - who knows what is to yet conspire...
